CA – March 27, 2007 – Xponent Photonics, the leading innovator of PLC optical components, today announced the availability of its new 10G MSA Xtreme Receiver with a production-quantity price of less than $50. The 10G MSA receiver, for short and medium range applications, is based on Xponent's proprietary Surface Mount Photonics platform and uses Xponent's high-speed PIN photodiode and an industry-leading TIA.
"The Xtreme 10Gb/s Receiver meets the industry's pressing need for a lower cost alternative to existing 10G component designs," said Ramzi Sawires, Xponent's Director of Marketing. "Our Surface Mount Photonics technology platform makes dramatic cost reductions possible by eliminating expensive packaging and alignment requirements, and utilizing standard semiconductor industry flip-chip and chip-on-board manufacturing processes."
Typical performance specifications include:
- -19 dBm sensitivity (-18 dBm guaranteed)
- 3.3V operating voltage / 55 mA supply current
- 1310nm or 1550nm wavelength
The XP7-0093 meets Telcordia GR-468-CORE requirements. It is designed for 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel and SONET/SDH network applications. Xponent is accepting orders to support customer's production pilot run quantities with full production scheduled for late Q2.
The Xponent 10G receiver is on display in Xponent's booth #3547 at OFC/NFOEC.
