Charles J. Abbe, Chairman

Charles J. Abbe was elected Chairman of the Xponent Board of Directors in March 2006. He has served on the board since March 2003. Mr. Abbe was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Optical Coating Laboratory, Inc. until its acquisition by JDS Uniphase in February 2000. He was appointed Senior Vice President of JDS Uniphase and, very soon thereafter, he was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer and elected a Director. He held these positions until his retirement. Prior to Optical Coating Laboratory, Mr. Abbe served in various executive positions for Raychem Corporation including Vice President, Strategic Planning, Vice President and General Manager of the Wire and Cable business, and Sr. Vice President of the Electronics Sector. Prior to joining Raychem, he spent over 18 years with McKinsey & Company in San Francisco, the last seven of which were as a senior partner. His work concentrated on a wide range of technology-driven businesses in North America, Europe and Asia.

Mr. Abbe earned an MBA degree from Stanford University as well as a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. He currently serves on the board of directors at 2 NASDAQ companies: Cosine Communications Inc., and Cymer, Inc., and 2 other privately owned companies: Nova Crystals, Inc., and NovaSol, Inc.
